On the southern border of Kensington, JJ Hollands Park occupies an area of more than 10 hectares along Kensington Road and Altona Street. Formerly known as Seagull Swamp, the park is named after John Joseph Holland, Member for Flemington for over 30 years from 1925.

Besides a variety of community facilities, JJ Holland Park offers sports fields, a basketball court, BMX and skateboarding areas, off-leash areas for dogs, picnic facilities and barbecue areas. There is also the Bill Vanina Sports Pavillion.

One of five staffed playgrounds in Australia, the Venny offers an accessible playground and a safe space for children between the ages of 5 and 16 and has a rich history in the Kensington community.

The Venny also facilitates intercultural social cohesion, food services, and therapeutic support through risk-taking play, creativity, and community connection.

Currently, under redevelopment, the Kensington Community Aquatic and Recreation Centre located within JJ Holland Park has served the Kensington community since 1976. With an exciting upgrade underway, the redeveloped Kensington Community Aquatic and Recreation Centre will meet the needs of Kensington's diverse community while remaining affordable and accessible for all.

Facilities will include: a 25-metre pool featuring eight lanes, gym facilities, children's water play, three full-sized multipurpose courts, health and wellness areas, three large flexible spaces suitable for a range of classes and community uses, accessible change rooms, including an adult accessible change facility funded by the Victorian Government, and a new cafe.

This small area of greenery has been well utilised, sandwiched between the Kensington train line and Bellair Street. Although this park is small, it offers a playground, barbecues, picnic areas, and grassy areas.

A soft path connects this large playground, making it easy for all children to access. Three wooden structures provide the bulk of the play area, which include: slides, spiral ladders, a scrambling wall, a play shop front, an abacus, walkways, mirrors, ladders, tic-tac-toe and monkey rungs. The playground includes shaded tables, benches, and a barbecue area.

A smaller local park located along Mercantile Parade and Tankard Street is perfect for sunny playdates and small birthday parties. The park is well-maintained and offers a large grassy area as well as swings, slides, and a playground.

The Women's Peace Garden is located off Epson Road and Cooper Lane in the heart of Kensington. Women's Peace Park's garden was designed to symbolise women's commitment to peace in 1986 (the international year of peace). In addition to picnics, gatherings with friends, or taking a quiet moment to relax, the well-maintained garden was completed in one year.

There is plenty of lush green space in this idyllic and quiet park that lies along the Maribyrnong River, with access to the water edge via Batman's Pier and views of the river.

As the largest dog park on the fringe of Melbourne's CBD, Clayton Reserve Dog Park is situated on the edge of Kensington and North Melbourne. You and your four-legged best friend will love this park since it has plenty of room to run and comfortable seating areas.
